03 ON FOOT
On foot from our gate
The municipal car park is next door. From there, everything is a walk, measured from our gate, climb included.

The house stands right behind the Kastro — the grassy hill that formed over Metsovo’s Ottoman fort (1864–67), which fell into ruin after the liberation of 1912.

04 ARRIVING
The last few metres

Exit 7, “Metsovo”
Leave the Egnatia (A2) at its own exit for Metsovo; there is no need to climb over Katara.

The municipal car park
Underground, 3 levels, paid, next to the house. The car stays there until you leave, out of the snow; in the village everything is on foot.

The iron gate
A few steps from the car park, in the courtyard’s stone wall. Your luggage doesn’t travel far.

The stone steps
From the lane, stone steps lead down into the paved courtyard. Your door is one of the four.

05 SNOW AND THE ROAD
In winter

From December to March, keep chains in the car and know how to fit them before you need them. The Egnatia motorway (A2) goes through the mountain in tunnels and has its own exit for Metsovo, so there’s no need to climb to Katara; the old road over the pass, at about 1,700 m, is for days without snow. In the village, leave the car in the underground municipal car park next to the house: the lanes are narrow and steep, and in snow everything is on foot. If the snow gets here before you do, we’ll write to you about the road and the chains.
