In August 2025 the average overnight low at the Metsovo station was 13.5 °C; at the Athens station it was 25.1 °C. Average highs were 25.0 °C against 32.9 °C. Hot days do happen, like the 34.4 °C of 25 July 2025, but in the whole of 2025 only 6 days reached 32 °C or more.

PRACTICAL

Bring a jumper for the evenings and a rain jacket: there are showers even in August (27 mm in August 2025). The Metsovo station stands at 1,240 m, about 85 metres above the square, so the village itself is a touch milder.

A CAVEAT

Two stations of the same network (NOA/meteo.gr): Metsovo at 1,240 m, Athens–Gazi at 50–60 m. The figures are one year's measurements, not climate normals.

A museum of 19th- and 20th-century Greek painting, open since 27 August 1988, with more than 700 works; about 250 hang permanently, from Gyzis and Lytras to Parthenis, Ghikas, Moralis and Tetsis.
