Metsovo's patron saint is celebrated on 26 July. On the eve (at 20:30 in 2025) her icon is carried through the main streets by priests, horsemen and villagers, and the village hangs out its woven textiles. On the day, after the liturgy, come the patinada procession, the 'kavalaris' horseman ritual and dances in Metsovo costume.

PRACTICAL

Villages nearby hold their own feasts the same days: Anilio (24–25 July in 2025) and Anthochori (25–26 July). On the morning of the 26th the main road is closed for a few hours (09:30–11:30 in 2024). The programme is announced a few days ahead.
