When the city stays hot even at night, evenings here call for a jumper. August is Metsovo's driest month and its most festive: evenings in the square, village feasts, and Lake Aoos and Valia Calda less than half an hour away.
An idea, not a package; you book only the suite. Availability from the booking calendar, right now.
THE PLAN, DAY BY DAY
Arrive and park. On event evenings the road around the Kastro closes 20:00–23:30; if you arrive late, ask us for the way to the car park.
The square, with whatever the municipal programme has that night.
The Averoff Garden and playground, a 7-minute walk.
The Averoff Garden and playgroundThe Tositsa Mansion, with a short guided tour (closed Thursdays).
19 minutes' drive to the shore, a walk towards the dams and sunset over the water at about 1,350 metres.
Milia, 24 minutes: the Boulouvaros waterfalls on a 100-metre path, the folk museum and the woodcarvers' workshops.
For walkers: Milia is the gateway to Valia Calda; stop first at the National Park information centre in Metsovo.
If it is 15 August: a feast in Milia after the liturgy, the Chrysovitsa festival, and the Dance Association's annual dance in Metsovo's square.
Meteora, about 1 hour 15 minutes away; in summer the Great Meteoron closes on Tuesdays and Varlaam on Fridays.
Or Anilio Park, 19 minutes: mountain biking, slackline, climbing, and its festival in early August.
Check out, with a jumper you probably needed.
