Aoos Springs lake

A reservoir at about 1,350 metres, covering 11.5 square kilometres and described as Greece's highest large lake. It was created in the late 1980s and is a Natura 2000 site. The best-known outing is the walk along the shore to the dams.

WHO IT SUITS

  • families, for a picnic and a walk
  • anyone after a sunset over water

PRACTICAL

In winter the road may have snow; ask us before you go. It pairs well with the village of Chrysovitsa, 16.3 km from our gate.

A CAVEAT

Sources disagree on the construction date (1981–91 or 1987), hence 'the late 1980s'. We do not know whether the road is cleared of snow.
